It's turn of the century California and a lumber tycoon is set to exploit the state's mighty redwoods. Unfortunately for him there's a homesteader in the way who will not allow the destruction of the "big trees". Action and romance ensues as the rich lumberman seeks ways to cut down the ancient forest.

The US Copyright Catalog of Motion Pictures, 1950-1959, lists The Big Trees with an original copyright date of February 17, 1952 by Warner Brothers Pictures, Inc. As such, the copyright should have been formally renewed 28 years later in 1980 but wasn't. This movie is now considered to be public domain.
